This class is for writers/illustrators interested in learning how to write and illustrate their own picture books for children. Participants will learn the fundamentals of writing a great story, create characters unique to their world, the dreaded character turn-around, and how to plan their story using thumbnail sketches. Then we'll move into polishing their story, drawing the finished sketches, and developing a few finished samples. We'll also cover publishing/self-publishing pros and cons and learn how to give/receive peer feedback as we work. Participants will need a sketchbook, pencils, a white eraser, a flash drive to save any writing work done in class, and should be able to print copies of their story to share with classmates. They will also need their own art supplies for whatever medium they would like to use for their finished illustration samples.
