Join the City of Agoura Hills for Autry After Hours | May Music Nights and Cowboy Cocktails with The Soda Crackers and to view Future Imaginaries, a PST Art Exhibit.Future Imaginaries explores the rising use of Futurism in contemporary Indigenous art as a means of enduring colonial trauma, creating alternative futures, and advocating for Indigenous technologies in a more inclusive present and sustainable future. More than 50 artworks are on display, some interspersed throughout the museum to create unexpected encounters and dialogues between contemporary Indigenous creations and historic Autry works. By intermingling science fiction, self-determination, and Indigenous technologies across a diverse array of Native cultures, Future Imaginaries envisions sovereign futures while countering historical myths and the ongoing impact of colonization, including environmental degradation and toxic stereotypes. Explore the rest of the museum before returning to the Recreation Center.
Enjoy live music and dancing on the plaza with classic-country band The Soda Crackers and try an exclusive cocktail featured in the book Cowboy Cocktails by Andre Darlington. With a goal to bring back the "classics," The Soda Crackers have that full Bakersfield sound with a nice helping of western swing thrown in as a side dish of sorts. The Soda Crackers celebrate the unsung heroes of the Bakersfield sound, the B-side gems that never get played, and the showmanship plus the instrumentation that all the greats brought to the smoky ol' beer joints & dance halls from years gone by.
Pacific Standard Time Art is a collection of exhibitions that explore some of the most urgent problems of our time through past and present connections between art and science in a series of exhibitions, public programs, and other resources. These exhibitions will explore “topics like ancient cosmologies, Indigenous sci-fi, environmental justice, and artificial intelligence”
