---Instructor: Frank Shutts--- Since storytelling began, civilizations discussed politics. Eventually, that was reflected in its dramatic literature. From the golden years of Epic Drama in 1920's Germany to America's push in the '60s (segregation) and '80's (AIDS), American plays dealing with political subjects have never had the popularity of other countries. This abbreviated course will both dismay and delight as we examine some of those classic plays and introduce you to some new ones. Students will read, watch, and discuss the plays, the issues, and our government's response to American crisis by examining both political dramas and comedies of their time.
