Elizabeth Catlett, Kara Walker, Jacob Lawrence, Kerry James Marshall, Faith Ringold - to just name a handful of the many African American artists who have helped change the course of art history! In this relief printmaking workshop, students will learn the basics of carving, registration, printing with and without a press to create a portrait or narrative linocut print inspired by Black History Month and then many artists and individuals who have helped shape the course of history. Students will carve a block and print in class leaving with a small edition of their piece! No experience necessary.
