Have you been itching to try out a stand-up paddle board but do not know where to start? Look no further! Anchorage Parks and Recreation is hosting free stand-up paddle board demo days Wednesday evenings in June (except June 19th) at Little Campbell Lake from 5-7pm! There are no reservations- all paddle boards are first come, first served and there is a limited quantity of boards available for 30-minute use.
Dates: June 4, 11, 18, and 25
How to prepare:
To come best prepared, it is recommended that you watch a few demonstration videos online about how to use a paddle board so that you can get the most out of your time on the water. There will not be a lifeguard on duty, and although adult life jackets are provided, it is strongly encouraged that you to bring your own to ensure proper fit. Bathing suits are not required.
Participants ages 15+ may paddleboard solo with parent/ guardian consent. Parents/guardians must provide life vests for their children. Adults must accompany children under 15.
What to expect:
Check in with Parks and Recreation at the life jacket station to pick up the correct size and sign our liability and photo release form. Once you have a life jacket, you will be given brief instruction about how to use a paddleboard and then be able to independently go out onto the water for up to 30 minutes.
If you have any further questions, please call the Activities Programmer Sunday through Wednesday at 907.343.4512 or the Kincaid Chalet at 907.343.6397.
