About this event

Students will focus on developing control and confidence while working with larger amounts of clay and learning techniques for centering over 3 pounds of clay and constructing forms in sections. Each participant may create up to four oversized pieces (over 14" in height). All pots will be fired in the baby gas kiln to cone 10. Prerequisite: Prior wheel experience required (at least two beginning-level classes). For all virtual and onsite Pottery classes, the tuition includes a $98 pass-through supply fee, which covers the cost of one bag of stoneware, raku, or Lizella earthenware clay (first bags of porcelain are available for an additional $5 cost), glazes, and 2,000 cubic inches of firing space. The supply fee does NOT include tools, students provide their own tools. Additional clay and tools may be purchased from the studio (credit card only). All work fired at Callanwolde must be produced in the Pottery Program studios (no outside work allowed). Paid Studio Access *NEW POLICY* Basement, Handbuilding (indoors and outdoors), Carriage House, Sculpture, and Glaze Studio Access. For a cost of $50 (plus sales tax) per quarter, students may opt in for additional studio access time between morning and evening classes. Paid Studio Access Hours: Monday - Thursday: 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM Friday: 9:30 AM - 9:30 PM Saturday: 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM Includes Sunday: 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM Students who do not opt for the paid studio access may use the studio without charge 1 ½ hours after morning classes, 1 ½ hours before evening classes and Sundays 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM.
