About this event
Join us for a talk and reception uplifting Black indigeneity through the history of the Muscogee Freedman. Rhonda Grayson of the Muscogee Creek Indian Freedman Band will share of their recent victory as the Supreme Court ruled that they are entitled to citizenship after years of fighting for recognition by the Muscogee Nation. She will discuss recent advocacy efforts, what this means for the future of the Freedmen, and how we all can continue to go beyond land acknowledgement in our personal and professional lives. We invite all to share in a conversation of land sovereignty and self-determination where we can collectively dream and build futures grounded in the history of those who originally stewarded this land. A reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres will follow. For more information on the Muscogee Creek Indian Freedman Band, please visit their website at https://www.1866creekfreedmen.com/ Space is limited. We hope you can join us in this timely and relevant conversation.
