Description
SEWING MACHINE WORKSHOP #2/ Hellenne VermillionSaturday August 16th from 11:00 AM -4:00 PM
1 Day
Class Fee: $65
*$10 supply fee payable to instructor for tote bag and/or drawstring back
Bring your working sewing machine and learn about machine needles, thread types, fabric types, tools and other supplies, and where to purchase them. We will learn how to use your sewing machine on various fabric types.
For first time participants, your project will be a zippered pouch (all materials provided).
For returning participants we will continue to get you used to working with the machine and fabrics. You will make either a tote bag or drawstring bag, or both. Materials will be provided (except thread), or you can bring your own fabrics.
What you will need to bring to the workshop:
Sewing machine that works with bobbins for your machine type
(Janome machine 001Lovely or Janome Mod-15 are good choices on Amazon) Mod-15 can lower the feed dogs, which is not essential unless you are a quilter that likes to do free-motion stitching
Sewing machine needles (preferably universal needles size 10 or 12, I use Schmetz needles)
A spool of thread in either white, light grey, or grey or any color you have (preferably Gutterman or Mettler threads)
Fabric scissors (Fiskars serrated ones are great, not pinking shears)
Seam ripper
Glass head pins, not plastic heads (Dritz extra long glass head pins)
Snacks and/or lunch and drinks for yourself.
Where to get your supplies:
www.fabricmartfabrics.com under Notions
Included in the workshop:
Fabric (and zipper for those making the pouch)
Bonus: if there is time, a headband out of knit
