Learn essential knitting techniques. You will learn to read a pattern, cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, decrease, increase, and finishing techniques while creating unique textiles. We’ll focus on skill building, creating swatches or a sampler scarf. Patterns will be provided or option to bring your own pattern. Materials: For the first class please bring the following: -set of size 8 or 9 circular knitting needle or straight needles* -one ball of smooth yarn (not textured) worsted weight yarn in a light color (any light color, not navy or black)** -scissors -ruler -tapestry needle Additional materials: -set of size 6 or 7 double pointed needles (dpn) and/or circular needle -straight needles *I learned to knit on metal straight needles. I now prefer wood because they are lighter, smoother, and quieter.
