About this event
Are you interested in sewing, but feel intimidated by the knobs, settings, and dials on the sewing machine? Don’t be—it’s simpler than it looks! Students will learn a brief history of the sewing machine and how it works. We’ll practice the most commonly used stitches and go over how to troubleshoot common machine problems. In sessions 2 and 3, students will then apply their new skills to construct a simple, unlined tote bag in a size and color of their choosing, with optional added pockets. After completing your first machine-sewn project, you will leave with the confidence to continue the versatile and rewarding craft of sewing. This class is for true beginners with no experience in sewing, or those who want to refresh their skills in a supportive environment after a hiatus.
