Handweaving: Level 1 & 2Instructor: Kira Keck
This class is for students who have no experiencein handweaving or who have acquired basicknowledge and skills, but want further instruction.Level 1 students will start with the basics of howto prepare the warp and weft for their project eitheron a rigid heddle loom or a 4-shaft floor loom.
Level 2 students can work independently on theirprojects supported by the instructor.In this class, returning students will be assigned aloom ahead of the start date based on their requestand will have access to reeds, raddles, warpingboards, and other weaving tools in the studio.New students will begin on either a rigid heddleloom or a 4-shaft floor loom.
Tuesdays, April 1 – June 105:00 pm – 8:00 pm, 11 sessions$358 Members, $398 Guests, $35 Loom Fee
Optional project kits will be available in classfor a fee in the $50 – $100 range.
Weaving: Open StudioNo Instruction
Weaving Open Studio is an opportunity to workon your class projects outside of your regularclass time.Students must be registered in the currentTuesday evening weaving class and be ableto weave on your own to attend.
Thursdays, April 3 – June 124:30 pm – 7:30 pm, 11 sessions

MATERIALS LIST

New Students:

  • Yarn for Level 1 - New students with no previous experience
    in textiles and/or handweaving may bring their project concept and yarn to class OR a *kit with pattern and yarn will be available for purchase on the first day of class. (See more details below.)
    • A pair of sharp scissors
    • Notebook
    • 8 x 8 Graphing Paper Pad available at Dick Blick
    • Pencil and eraser
    • Soft tape measure (inches)
    • Calculator



    Returning Students (students who have taken more than one class)
    See equipment recommendations in resources.

    • Yarn for Level 2: Students may bring their yarn and projects or choose the *kit.
    • 1 x Boat shuttle. The 11” (regular and slim) are used in the studio.
    • 1 x Heddle Hook
    • 1 x Reed Hook
    • 1 x Bag of Bobbins suitable for your shuttle


    *Optional project kits will be available in class for a fee in the $50-$100 range.
