Description
Fiber / Textiles:Handweaving Level 2 & 3Instructor: Rachel BrunhildHandweaving can produce a range of pieces andproducts; creative expression with thread, artifactsfor the home, fabric for garments, or perhapsa study of a particular weave structure or method.This class is for both the student who has acquiredbasic knowledge and wants further instruction(Level 2) and the advanced student who requiresmore challenging instruction and encouragementto develop their project ideas and concepts(Level 3). In this class, returning students will beassigned a loom ahead of the start date basedon their request and will have access to reeds,raddles, warping boards and other weaving toolsin the studio.
Students in this class must provide their own yarn,shuttles, and bobbins for their projects.
Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 weaving classes.

Weaving: Open StudioNo InstructionThis is an opportunity to work on your classprojects outside of your regular class time.Students must be registered in a current termweaving class to attend the weaving open studios.Wednesdays, April 2 – June 119:00 am – 12:00 pm, 11 sessions

Students in this class must provide their own yarn, shuttles, and bobbins for their projects.
Suitable yarn for weaving
A pair of sharp scissors
8 x 8 Graphing Paper Pad available at Dick Blick
Pencil, eraser and notebook
Soft tape measure (inches)

1 x Boat shuttle. The 11” (regular and slim) are used in the studio.
1 x Heddle Hook
1 x Reed Hook
1 x Bag of Bobbins suitable for your shuttle
Resources for Equipment:
Schacht 11” Open Bottom is recommended. Either slim or regular
Leclerc 11 “ closed bottom shuttle
Schacht 4” bobbins fit the 11” shuttle

Heritage Spinning and Weaving is our local handweaving and spinning store.
Located in Lake Orion. Joan Sheridan has a wide range of weaving yarns, Please mention you are a student at the BBAC if you go, and encourage everyone to shop locally when possible as it is by far the best way to choose colors seeing them in person.
