Collage Creations: Exploring Art Through Layers: Grades 6-8

This engaging course is designed for middle school students who want to explore the art of collage making. Students will discover how to tell stories and express themselves through combination of images, texture and materials, using both traditional and innovative techniques. Participants will experiment with a variety of materials including magazines, newspapers, fabric, photos and natural elements. They will learn how to choose and combine different textures and colors to create compositions of expression. This course will cover essential collage techniques such as layering, cutting, and design principles. Students will also learn how to create dynamic collage paper through the use of mediums and average household supplies. By the end of this class students will have a diverse portfolio of collage artworks and deeper understanding of how to use visual elements to communicate thoughts and emotions
