Jewelry & Metalsmithing: Forging
Instructor: Mary Kernahan

Forging is the controlled shaping of metal by thecompressive force of hammer blows to producegraceful transitions and contrasts in the thickness.It is useful for all scales of metalwork, from thesmallest scale jewelry to large sculptural forms.This class will explore the basic techniques usedto forge metal while gaining a working skill set.Open to students of all skill levels.

Metals/Jewelry Department Students


All Jewelry/Metals students pay a fee to cover supplies, and the use of tools/studio equipment during the class periods.

Materials list of items to bring:

-Please bring a small notebook and pencil to class
-Wear close-toed shoes and long pants
-Bring your own safety goggles, or you can share the studio goggles
