The Art of Abstract Black & White Painting - Exploration of the Limited Palette
Instructor: Sheri Lee Robinson
Black is the color that results from the absence of or complete absorption of visible light. Black was also one of the very first colors used in ancient cave paintings and there are many positive meanings associated with this powerful color. The color white has the unique ability to reflect and scatter all available wavelengths of light and was also used in ancient cave paintings! These two colors have a long history together and both have many exciting meanings and myths associated with them. In this bold new course, we will explore working with this truly limited palette in all of its wonderful glory...abstract style! Together, we will look to and learn about some of the great artists who took this limited palette to great heights — Franz Klein, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Jay DeFeo, and more — will all be explored and presented in a daily slideshow for your inspiration and pleasure. Join me on this journey and prepare to make A LOT of Black and White art. See you in the studio!
