Painting: Automatic Art Making

Automatic art making is an art-making technique that involves creating art without conscious thought. The goal is to access the unconscious mind and produce images that are ambiguous and open to interpretation.
Course Objectives:
• HAVE FUN
• Learn various Automatic Art Making techniques
• Gain confidence in mark-making that is guided from the subconscious
• Create a bold new body of Automatic Artwork

MATERIALS LIST
Materials
2 Sketchbooks, medium to large size
Writing Journal
Several pads of sketching paper: newsprint, watercolor paper, wet media paper etc. Get as much as you want but no less than 3 pads of paper.A
Several multi-packs of pre-stretched canvases, any size. Try a few different sizes for fun. We will be using them up!
A variety of drawing materials that you want to work with. Just go to the art supply store and explore.
A medium size set of student grade acrylic paints
Paintbrushes of varying sizes for water based mediums
ANY kind of water based art making material that inspires you or feels right.
Plastic cover for your work table
Apron or coveralls
Plastic/latex gloves
