Painting: Contemporary Landscape
2-Day Workshop
Instructor: Edward Duff

This two-day workshop will help students learn to simplify and narrow down the complexity of the landscape in order to capture the essence of a scene. Focusing on value and limited color palette studies, accurate color mixing, and emphasis on composition, students will be encouraged to find their own personal direction as they create contemporary works of art. During the two days, students will receive individual instruction and will benefit from demonstrations and group critiques. Demonstrations will be done in oil, but all painting media is welcome in the workshop.

Listed below are the required supplies for the workshop. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Since this is an all-day workshop, we will be taking a break for lunch. Please do not forget to bring something to eat and drink with you. Most importantly, please bring a variety of photo reference from which to choose. I recommend you bring photos that you have taken yourself. If you do not have any images that you have taken, please research copyright free images online that you can print and bring with you to class or view on a tablet or laptop. Pixabay and Shutterstock are good options.
