Ceramic Arts: Intermediate/Advanced
Instructor: Sue O'Connor


Functional and sculptural forms will be exploredby using a variety of slabs, texture, and templates.Projects may include a pitcher with cups, gardenartifacts, or a decorative vase. Students willbecome proficient in creating ceramic vesselswith a unique surface and collecting a varietyof handbuilding skills.
Prerequisite: Students MUST be proficient inintermediate ceramic skills which includes studioequipment and glazing.

BBAC Ceramic Arts Materials List
• A basic Pottery Tool Kit from Amazon, Blick, Michaels, etc. • Apron (or wear something that can get dirty) • Rags • Gloves• Dust mask
BBAC Ceramics Studio Policies/Procedures Ceramics students are required to follow all department policies and procedures. BBAC ceramics classes and open studios are intended to introduce and further the education experience and are not intended to take the place of a personal studio and/or production studio. BBAC ceramics technician has the right to refuse to fire work if the studio policies are not followed. • Only current student work made at BBAC using clay from BBAC, may be glazed and fired at BBAC. • No multiples can be made by a current student within a semester that are clearly a production of the same or very similar pieces. • Students may not bring in work they (or someone else) create outside of the BBAC to be bisque-fired, glazed, and/or glaze-fired at the BBAC.
Purchasing Extra Clay at the BBAC One, 25 lb. bag of clay is included with your class. BBAC offers the service of purchasing additional clay (one bag at a time) at the beginning of your class time through your instructor. Limit is two additional bags per term if inventory allows. (No clay sales during open studios.) Each 25 lb. bag of Wheat Stone is $21 and each 25 lb. bag of Porcelain is $24.
Ceramics Open Studio - No Instruction Open Studio time is available for current term students registered for a ceramics class of 12 hours or more. Open studios begin the second week of classes and end the week before the term ends. Students can sign up beginning the first week of classes and throughout the term on a rotation basis.
