About this event

Description

The French Library is pleased to host an exclusive preview of Adieu Monsieur Haffmann, the award-winning French play that won four Molière Awards in 2018, including Best New Production, Best Playwright (Jean-Philippe Daguerre), and Best Female Revelation (Julie Cavanna). Cast members Julie Cavanna and Benjamin Brenière will share their experiences performing this powerful work in Paris and on tour, and reflect on how being part of a Molière-winning production has shaped their careers. The conversation will be moderated by David Miller, founder of Boston’s French Theater Project. This preview at the French Library is co-organized with The French Theater Project ahead of the Boston premiere at the Calderwood Pavilion, October 24–26, 2025.
Adieu Monsieur Haffmann is set in Nazi-occupied Paris in 1942. When Jewish jeweler Joseph Haffmann asks his employees to hide him from the Nazis, the couple agrees—on one extraordinary condition. This gripping story of survival and moral compromise has been adapted into a major motion picture and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and a glass of wine.
In-person event in French and English.
