About this event
This course is for students with at least one year of experience on their instrument. Students will expand their knowledge of music theory and apply it in performance settings, explore widely practiced musical concepts used in both classical and modern music, build intermediate-level proficiency on their instrument through state-standard methods, enhance listening skills and apply them to real-time performance, be introduced to advanced musical concepts such as composition, transcription, transposition, and music history, explore music from diverse American and global traditions, continue to refine rehearsal etiquette and be consistent with at-home practice routines, contribute to a positive and collaborative rehearsal environment where every student feels valued and included. 🎯 Assessments As an extracurricular program, the Beginning and Advanced Band will not follow a traditional grading system. Students will instead be assessed through a variety of informal and formative methods, including: “Do as I do” performative imitation. Students are expected to complete weekly practice logs, recording the amount of time spent practicing at home. These must be signed by an adult. ✅ What’s Expected at Every Rehearsal Students must bring the following: Sheet music and assigned repertoire writing utensil (pencil preferred), chromebook or compatible device, completed and signed practice logs, their assigned method book, their instrument, and necessary accessories. What Can Parents Expect? Parents and trusted adults can expect open communication about their child’s progress in the ensemble. Regular updates will be provided on performances, assessments, music, and other related materials. A detailed syllabus outlining the program will be shared after the first day of enrichment classes.
