Experimental Techniques in Transparent and Opaque WatercolorLearn a variety of experimental techniques using transparent and opaque watercolor, including pen and ink techniques, mono-printing, and using sand and dyes, saran wrap, gauze and collage. Participants can work in both types of watercolor to develop a personal style using images or abstractions. This class is designed for all levels of experience.
Please see the online notes below for a materials list to purchase prior to class (approx. $60). The instructor will provide some materials.
Instructor Sally Elliott was a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Denver in drawing and painting. She has been exhibiting locally and nationally for over 40 years and has earned numerous awards and honors.
Some materials will be provided by the instructor. The materials each participant will need to provide themselves include:
-One 9X12" 98-lb pad of mixed media paper -One 9X12" 140-lb pad of watercolor paper -Three nylon of sabeline brushes (flat, round and liner) -Set of water transparent watercolors (the best buy is the brand Yarka) -One small set of tempera paints -One artist masking tape -One small container of Matt Medium -One spray bottle -One water container -One pair of scissorsNote: Guiry's on Pearl St. is the best place to buy art supplies but you might find some items at McGuckins. Items can also be ordered online from a site such as Amazon, but often cost more per item.
