About this event
Targeted to K-2 Educators Listening carefully to nature provides young learners with new ways to understand and connect with the diverse chorus of living plants and animals who inhabit our planet. Join us to learn strategies to engage students in active listening, collaboration, and sense-making as they investigate sound and animal adaptations! In this 2-hour class, participants will: -explore and practice techniques to engage students with nature through listening, collaboration, and hands-on investigations. -gain content knowledge and strategies to support student learning about how animals use hearing adaptations to survive and grow in their habitats. -discover strategies to support student investigations based on animal phenomenon, including hands on activities to explore sound wave properties. Participants will leave with effective strategies and lesson activities to support 3-dimensional, NGSS learning, as well as new ideas for leveraging Brookfield Zoo Chicago resources to engage students in discovery and inquiry-based learning.
