About this event
Cost includes: All major transportation (flights, airport transfers, charter bus for 1 day in NYC, 5 nights in a city-center hotel, all in-city meals and snacks (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and typically a snack each day), and event/venue admissions fees. Not included in trip cost: Breakfast at the airport on the first day of the trip, Subway and bus transportation in NYC (this is primarily a modern convenience issue with the advent of tap-entry credit cards—estimated cost is $25-$40). All shopping and souvenirs, extra beverages, meals and snacks above those that will be amply provided Join Dr Allmond as she takes our group on a grand adventure to New York City! Students will explore the rich history of the City through guided tours, museum exploration, and a variety of customized experiences designed by Dr. Allmond, who lived in New York for several years while pursuing her master’s and doctoral degrees. Highlights include: • The Metropolitan Museum of Art and its sister museum, The Cloisters (a medieval art collection housed in a beautifully recreated representation of a European monastery and gardens, overlooking the Hudson River) • The Museum of Modern Art—Van Gogh’s Starry Night lives here! • A walk through Central Park • Lincoln Center • Rockefeller Center • St. Patrick’s Cathedral • Radio City Music Hall • 911 Memorial • Statue of Liberty (via the Staten Island Ferry) • A walk on the Brooklyn Bridge • Times Square • Grand Central Station and the very new Summit at One Vanderbilt—a city overlook that dwarfs the Empire State Building!! • The historic New York Public Library—where Winnie the Pooh and his famous friends live! • Bryant Park (one of Dr. Allmond’s favorite spots in the City) • A Broadway play –students will have several options to choose from • Wall Street and a visit to Alexander Hamilton’s church and burial site • The Empire State Building • In addition, we’ll enjoy a 3-hour Printmaking Workshop at Teachers College, Columbia University, creating
