Costume & Crafts Fridays with August Applewhite In this hands-on, creative course, students will explore the art of costume craft and construction while developing practical skills they can use for theatre, cosplay, fashion, or everyday creativity. Over 11 weeks, participants will: Learn and practice sewing skills (both hand sewing and machine sewing) Gain experience with gluing, ironing, and cutting fabric Explore techniques for embellishing and personalizing costumes Work from concept to creation — designing, pitching, and building their own custom, one-of-a-kind costume pieces Under the guidance of teaching artist August Applewhite, students will combine artistry with craftsmanship, leaving the class with both new skills and a finished project they can proudly show off.
