Most of us have heard of the groundbreaking musical “Show Boat,” but few realize that the story was based on an actual floating theatre that brought music and entertainment to Deep Creek, Great Bridge, and the canals and tributaries of the Chesapeake. Join Chesapeake author and historian Kate Livie for an entertaining look at the James Adams Floating Theatre, a “magical little showboat” that shaped life in the Chesapeake for almost 30 years.
