Young Film Makers with Brian Murray: Young Filmmakers teaches your child how to make their ideas a reality! We begin exploring narrative structure through group viewings and discussions of previous class films, students’ favorite videos, and shorts made in different forms from all around the world. Next, students learn the basics of camera operations, lighting, and equipment. From there, most of our time together is spent making movies using various live-action and animation techniques. Plots are developed through brainstorming, scripts are created and rehearsed, and sets and costumes are constructed. Before recording the multiple shots that make up their movies, roles are assigned, and students improve their teamwork skills as they delegate and perform the various duties needed to bring their ideas to life. Returning students will refine their skills as lead actors, editors, and scene and technical directors. This program provides endless opportunities for social-emotional learning through teamwork and hands-on experimentation.
