About this event
Description
Autumn Harvest Forest BathThe term “forest bathing” is a direct translation from “Shinrin-yoku”, a Japanese-inspired practice. The act of absorbing the beneficial elements found outdoors. This practice involves a guided walking meditation in nature and follows a set sequence of gentle, almost yoga-like activities. This "Intermediate Level" walk will be a total of 1.3 miles. There are two sections with inclines of about 1/4 mile total with uneven terrain throughout. Must be able to walk independently without limited mobility. Must be comfortable with mild/moderate exertion during the incline portions of the trail.
Your certified instructor will guide you through the sequence during the 120-minute session, attuning your senses to the more natural cadence of the outdoors. This guided sequence restores your body and mind to a peaceful state. Tension will melt away. The constant "brain chatter" will soften. You will remember what joy feels like. Research shows after forest bathing sessions people experience improvements in blood pressure, heart rate, anxiety, depression, blood sugar, cognitive fatigue, and improved healing after surgery or during cancer treatment.
Your clothing and shoes must be appropriate for the season and the outdoors. Participants may encounter diverse wildlife. Please wear closed-toed shoes, long protective pants and bring bug repellent. The walk will be between 2-2.5 hours long and end with a tea ceremony and light snack.Children, ages 5 and up, are welcome, as long as an adult is present.Peacock Hill Nature Park Map
