Howell Law will be presenting an informative session on Guardianship and Conservatorship. The role of Guardian and/or Conservator is one that carries with it considerable responsibility as well as considerable rewards. In a situation where a person is unable to make decisions for him or herself, and no person is named by a Power of Attorney, the court may undergo proceedings to appoint a Conservator or Guardian. In Colorado, the court can appoint a Guardian or Conservator for either a minor or an adult who is deemed to lack decision-making capacity. The Guardianship creates a fiduciary responsibility over another person’s (called a Ward) physical custody and care. A Conservatorship creates the fiduciary responsibility over a Protected Person’s property and finances. Snacks and light refreshments will be served.
