In July 1779, British forces and their Native allies attacked Fort Freeland, a settlers’ fort in central Pennsylvania. This program explores why the fort became a target and examines the broader context of the conflict. Topics include British and Indian strategies and tactics, the four military units engaged on both sides, the key events of the summer of 1779, and the conditions settlers faced before and after the battle.
