Description

Participants will have a guided tour by City Van up Marys Peak Road to the Marys Peak campground showing sites of interest along the way that generally go unnoticed. We then hike up the seldom-used Meadow Edge Loop Trail crossing the highest creek in the Oregon Coast Range and through an old-growth forest. We then enter the only extensive Noble fir forest west of the Cascade and up to the Marys Peak summit with rare meadows and plant community surround by a 360-degree view unlike any in Oregon. We will identify the Cascade Mountains peaks we can see and the locations of coastal cities. As we head down from the summit, we will experience a new trail that was developed this Spring.
Participants will be walking up and down elevations on narrow, uneven trails, but the pace will be slow.
