“BEYOND the EXPECTED – EXPLORING MOVEMENT”
You will learn about the elements of Weight, Time, Space, Flow, and Intent . Find movement that you never dreamed of doing! These Elements of Movement can be used to enhance and expand any human movement, any dance form, any martial arts practice, etc.WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS WORKSHOP?Dancers and movers of all kinds, age 15 and up. All skill levels welcome.This workshop is part of a two-workshop series. These workshops are both intended to help dancers and movers of all disciplines and experience levels feel comfortable and confident in their ability to audition for the upcoming Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis show at the Majestic Theatre (on January 31 and February 7, 2026) but anyone can take these workshops and participants are not required to audition.
This session prepares you for the next Workshop “HOW TO GO TINY and SAY SOMETHING BIG!” on Saturday, Nov. 1 - 1:00-3:00 pm (which you can register for right here: http://apm.activecommunities.com/corvparksandrecreation/Activity_Search/51283)
While the workshops are designed as a series, you can take only one or the other if your schedule does not allow you to do both.
If you DO choose to audition, you can use your new movement ideas to do so. 10 TINY DANCES® is a specialized dance show which challenges dancers and movers to create a dance for a tiny elevated stage 4’ x 4’ and 1.5’ high. You can find out more on the AUDITIONS page on the Majestic website. If you just want to choreograph, or if you just want to dance, or if you want to do both, come to the workshops. You’ll make connections and have fun moving and creating!
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADERMishele Mennett is a longtime performer, dance teacher, choreographer, Director of Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis. Most recently choreographer for “Matilda,” “Cabaret,” “Newsies,” Pacific Tap Dance Company, and performed as half of “Ariel” in “The Tempest.”
ABOUT THE SHOWThe 9th annual Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis will be presented in the Majestic Lab Theatre on January 31 and on the Majestic Mainstage on February 7th . This will provide both the performers and the audience with an intense and exciting experience. Ten Tiny Dances® was created in Portland, Oregon in 2002 and continues to be produced by founder Mike Barber and others, with permission. Please see www.tentinydances.org for more information.
