“HOW TO GO TINY and SAY SOMETHING BIG!”Build a movement sequence that is cohesive and powerful, whether you are a dancer, martial artist, athlete, actor, or just someone who likes to MOVE! Learn the principles of composition that pull everything together. Apply these ideas to a tiny space of 4’ x 4’ which we will tape off on the floor.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS WORKSHOP?Dancers and movers of all kinds, age 15 and up. All skill levels welcome.
This workshop is part of a two-workshop series. These workshops are both intended to help dancers and movers of all disciplines and experience levels feel confident in their ability to audition for the upcoming Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis shows at the Majestic Theatre on January 31 and February 7, but anyone can take these workshops and participants are not required to audition.
The earlier workshop “BEYOND the EXPECTED – EXPLORING MOVEMENT” on Sunday, October 26 from 1:00-3:00 helps prepare you for this workshop; however, you may take just this workshop without the preceding workshop.(But you can register for the first one right here: http://apm.activecommunities.com/corvparksandrecreation/Activity_Search/51282)
While the workshops are designed as a series, you can take either one if your schedule does not allow you to do both.
If you DO choose to audition, you can use your new movement ideas . 10 TINY DANCES® is a specialized dance show which challenges dancers and movers to create a dance for a tiny elevated stage 4’ x 4’ and 1.5’ high. You can find out more on the AUDITIONS page on the Majestic website. If you just want to choreograph, or if you just want to dance, or if you want to do both, come to the workshops . You’ll make connections and have fun moving and creating!
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADERMishele Mennett is a longtime performer, dance teacher, choreographer, Director of Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis. Most recently choreographer for “Matilda,” “Cabaret,” “Newsies,” Pacific Tap Dance Company, and performed as half of “Ariel” in “The Tempest.”
ABOUT THE SHOWThe 9th annual Ten Tiny Dances® Corvallis will be presented in the Majestic Lab Theatre on January 31 and on the Majestic Mainstage on February 7th .
