7 Must-Try Cycling Sunglasses for 2018

It's summertime, which means swimsuits, lightweight kits and most importantly, sunglasses. While certain style cues have faded out, the oversized one-piece goggle look continues to dominate in 2018. Plus, a renewed emphasis on increased airflow has fostered some interesting solutions. From smart to minimalistic, we tested seven new cycling sunglasses for 2018.

You may not ride like cycling superstar Peter Sagan, but at least you can look like him with the new S2 by Ride 100%. We were immediately drawn to the S2's bold design and loud colorways, and we couldn't help but enjoy the performance of the glasses even more. The oversized lens was sharp and promoted an unrivaled peripheral vision. Plus, the Ultra-Grip rubber nose piece and temple tips guaranteed no slippage time and time again.

Our Favorite Feature: The S2 features an interesting laser-etched edge on the bottom of the lens, giving the glasses a full-frame look without the weight or bulk.

Oakley Flight Jacket

No fog, no problem. With just a flick of a lever built into the nose piece, the Flight Jacket frame moves slightly further from your face to promote greater airflow. While not a feature we used very often, it is well executed and appreciated during warm, humid rides. The Flight Jacket is similar in style to the ultra-popular Oakley Jawbreaker but lacks the top portion of the frame above the brow. This gives a rider an unobstructed view out the top of the lens, especially in an aggressive riding position.

Our Favorite Feature: The Flight Jacket is compatible with eight different lenses, including Oakley's high performance (and our personal favorite) Prizm lenses.

The SR-1 is impressively light, includes lenses coated by Carl Zeiss Vision and features earpieces built with a titanium core that are stable yet allow the user to dial in for the perfect fit. The patented GEKO rubber in the nose piece and temple tips are comfortable, durable and keep the sunglasses in place—no matter how sweaty and damp our skin was.

Long known as the industry standard for cycling components, Shimano jumped headfirst into the sunglasses market in 2018. Its flagship model, the S-Phyre X, was developed in conjunction with professional cycling team Lotto NL-Jumbo. We took the Metallic Blue model out for a spin, and immediately loved the full-coverage lens for its wide field of vision, as well as the non-slip temples and nose pad. Also, the additional "Cloud Mirror" interchangeable lens was a nice touch when conditions were less than optimal.

Our Favorite Feature: The lower section of the frame is completely detachable (for an increased lower field of view), and Shimano includes black replacement pieces to switch up the look depending on preference.
