Picture this: It’s a beautiful day. You’re riding along in your city’s protected bike lane, having a gay old time when, out of nowhere, there’s something blocking your way that’s definitely not a bike: a parked car, a sign or maybe just some thoughtless urban planning.
Or maybe you’re riding along on the shared road and see a sign for a bike lane coming up. You breathe a major sigh of relief, feeling safer already—only to arrive at the start and see it extends a whopping 8 feet before abruptly turning into a patch of grass.
