About this event
Period C and D In this class campers will learn the basics and essentials of cooking and apply them to making a variety of Mexican and Nigerian dishes. The goal is for campers to not only learn how to work together as a team but to grow as chefs and cultivate a greater appreciation for the food that we eat everyday. Be prepared to cook delicious foods you may have never heard of before, and also learn the history of these foods, play some icebreaker games, and work together as a team to clean up and care for our kitchen tools and spaces. This course will be co-taught by two Athenian Student Instructors, Xavier M. and Tobi A. Athenian Student Instructors are selected to teach in our program, and complete training where they learn the basics of lesson planning, facilitation skills, youth engagement and materials management. Throughout the Summer they will have support from the Summer Admin team as needed. They are thrilled to offer this course to younger students.
