Youth or adult participants.
Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills and apply fitness principles to training workouts.
Prerequisite: 12 years of age. Recommended at least Swimmer 6/Rookie Patrol or Swim Kids 8
Bronze Medallion Award teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness.
Rescuers learn tows, carries, and defense and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Includes CPR-C.
Prerequisites: Bronze Star or 13 years old.
Youth or adult participants. Must be at least 13 years old or completed the Bronze Star Award. Focuses on swimming, lifesaving skills and first aid.
