About this event
All Levels* $165-$215 Materials and Studio Fees** This workshop will cover the process of slipcasting ceramics from start to finish. We will start with making models out of clay and plaster, pouring plaster molds, casting clay, and glazing. The goal is to understand and execute the entire process from designing an object all the way through to a fully realized ceramic object. Upon completion, participants should have a basic understanding of moldmaking and casting that they can confidently build upon in their own practice. Additional topics will include basic clay and glaze chemistry, mixing various materials, including plasters, rubber, casting slip, and glaze. *All skill levels are welcome as we will start from square one. Any previous knowledge of these materials and processes will also serve to enhance your understanding. **Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
