Intermediate-Advanced* $25 Materials and Studio Fees** Have you ever looked through rows of books and magazines, or scrolled through an article on your phone, and noticed the art accompanying the text and wondered how or why that specific image is there? These illustrations tend to go through a distilling process of rough sketches and color studies until they successfully visually communicate what is happening in the text they accompany and, hopefully, stand on their own as a dynamic artwork. In this workshop, we’ll dive into this specific aspect of the vast illustration world and learn how to translate text into a visually striking image that tells the viewer a story or gives them an idea of what to expect from a book title of your choosing. We’ll also gain a better understanding of the process of an illustration’s creation through building our own images and the many ways we engage with it in our daily lives. *Students should have some drawing/painting knowledge and, when it comes to drawing from memory and laying out a drawing, be somewhat comfortable with going out on their own. **Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
