Step beyond black and white and learn to create vibrant colored pencil drawings! Explore value, color, layering, expression, and mood. Class projects and individualized instruction will introduce you to the subtle beauty of colored pencil and pastel drawing.

Topics Covered

Projects will be given to encourage experimentation with the material. Blending, layering, color mixing, and mark-making techniques will be introduced in this class. Elements of design, such as texture and value, will be taught to help you explore color pencil’s expressive potential. These elements will also help as you learn to design interesting compositions on your paper. You can expect to work from still-life arrangements and photographs. Instruction will include demonstrations, lectures, and individual guidance from the instructor.
