Explore the journey from Realism to Impressionism painting, where you'll learn how to capture the world as it is and then brush up on how to paint how it feels! Whether you're into precise details or looser strokes, this class will take you on a journey through both styles so you can find your own artistic voice.
Topics Covered
You will have the opportunity to paint one Dutch Golden Age Realist painting, either a still life or botanical image and one Impressionist still life or landscape (Van Gogh or Signac). Reference images will be provided. Techniques taught will include, brush handling, layering, color mixing, and how to convey light. Topics include preliminary sketching and brushstroke experimentation for visual movement. Instruction will include lectures, demonstrations, critiques, and individual guidance from the instructor.
