Already have experience throwing on the wheel and want to further expand on those skills? Continue to fine tune your throwing techniques and start to develop your own style while making bowls and cylinder shapes that can be manipulated into cups, mugs, and vases. Already feel comfortable with bowls and cylinder shapes? Try your hand at more complex pieces like teapots, pitchers, plates, or jars!

Structure of class
This is an intermediate throwing class, this is not a beginning class. It is recommended that you have taken at least 2-3 beginning wheel throwing classes and have a good foundation of throwing techniques before taking. Work alongside other ceramic artists with a wide range of experience and skillsets and emerge from this class with a stronger knowledge of ceramic technique, refined skills, and feeling centered. This is a go at your own pace class. In this class you might discuss altering forms, throwing larger forms, adding handles or lugs or spouts, and exploring various surface decorative surfaces. Expect weekly demonstrations, examples and critiques from both your peers and instructor.
Please note, we do not allow outside clay at the Fishers Art Center. All clay must be purchased at enrollment. If more clay is needed throughout the semester, it can be purchased from the program manager. Ceramic tools for class are provided. If you would like to purchase your own tools you are welcome to. Please have a card on file if you are wanting to purchase additional clay and firing fees.
