Begin your hand building journey in this 15 week course in a relaxed environment. In this class you will get an introduction to the various hand building techniques from slabs, coils, pinching and sculpting techniques.

Structure of class Produce functional or sculptural forms by exploring the fundamental techniques of hand building. You will learn to flatten slabs, create coils and pinch pots, and sculpt forms to create virtually anything you can dream up, all with your hands. See weekly demonstrations that will strengthen your understanding of how clay can be manipulated. Take part in laid-back critiques with your classmates and learn how they tackled similar projects. Expect to get an introduction to each building technique, create a project using the various techniques, and then you will have the opportunity to focus on the technique/s you prefer. Near the end of the class session you will learn about glazing to finish your forms. Potential projects: Slabs- houses, boxes, geometric containers Coils- vessels, functional forms, containers Pinch pots- bowls, sculptural forms
