About this event
Advisor: Dimtri Akulov Email: dimitri.akulov@basisindependent.com Are you passionate about understanding the world and making a difference? The World Affairs Club offers students a chance to explore the world beyond their textbooks by examining global current events, human rights issues, and international conflicts through student-led discussion and creative projects. Each week, members review brief updates on recent world news before focusing on initiatives that connect global issues to our school community. Last year, we explored topics such as the humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Southern California wildfires, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. To raise awareness, members created informational brochures, posters, and flyers and shared them throughout the school. We also led hands-on events, including making pronoun pins for International Transgender Day of Visibility, stress-relief toys for World Mental Health Day, and a multimedia art exhibit for International Day of Education. In addition to outreach and events, members design and publish a bimonthly newsletter to keep our community informed about international developments and club projects. World Affairs Club provides a collaborative and inclusive space for students to think critically, share knowledge, and become active global citizens.
