About this event
Advisor: Alyce Moy Email: alycemoy@gmail.com Science Olympiad is science as a sport! This national program is for students who enjoy exploring various science and engineering topics through competitive challenges. All participants will compete as part of teams in invitational tournaments throughout the fall and winter in preparation for the regional tournament in February. Each student will be responsible for three to four different events, ranging in topics from physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and general science knowledge. Some events require building a device, while others are topic tests. Join our award-winning team as we head into our fourth season as the reigning 2025 Alameda Regional Division B Champions. Students will meet once a week during club time and are expected to allocate additional hours each week at home on preparations as well. Tournaments will be every 3-4 weeks, with many opportunities to win medals throughout the season. (Fees for tournament registration and materials will be charged separately.) Events for this season include: Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Detectives, Entomology, Heredity/Designer Genes, Water Quality, Dynamic Planet (Oceanography), Meteorology, Remote Sensing, Rocks and Minerals, Solar System, Hovercraft, Circuit Lab, Machines, Crime Busters/Forensics, Potions and Poisons, Boomilever, Helicopter, Mission Possible, Scrambler, Codebusters, Experimental Design, Metric Mastery, Write It Do It, Material Science, Bungee Drop, Astronomy, Chemistry Lab, Engineering CAD, and Robot Tour.
