About this event
Three IN-PERSON sessions October 6, 13, 20 This course, with one classroom and two in-the-field sessions, will provide participants with knowledge and skills to improve their backyard birding abilities. The week one classroom session at Brenau will include matching birds to their preferred habitat, identifying trees, shrubs and other plants that provide food for migrating birds, the importance of the bird calendar when trying to identify birds, and more. The week two and three field sessions will meet at North Hall Community Center and Chicopee Lake and include some walking. Participants should bring their own binoculars. Directions concerning where to meet for the two field sessions will be provided at the first class session. There is a $5 parking fee at Chicopee Lake. Peter Gordon is a naturalist, avid birder and experienced birding educator. He is the former Education Director at Elachee Nature Center. Northeast Georgia natural history is one of his passions, and he has led numerous hikes, lectured and taught lessons on birding, lake ecology, local geology and history over the years.
