About this event
Three IN-PERSON Sessions February 4, 11, 18 In the 2025 Winter Session, Tony Herdener taught an excellent course, “Why Does Healthcare Cost So Much?” In it, he indicated that healthcare in the United States is essentially a “collection of ‘cottage industries’.” This course will expand on that reflecting on the text by T.R. Reid, The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care. Topics will include whether health care is a right or privilege, the social determinants of health care, and the obstacles to providing a universal healthcare system in the United States. A veteran BULLI instructor, George Ordway is a retired professor of physiology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and a physician assistant. He currently provides volunteer patient care at Good News Clinics and Good News at Noon.
