About this event
Six IN-PERSON Sessions September 18, 25, October 2, 16, 23, 30 During this course we will explore six centuries of puzzles that are hidden in great musical works. Starting with Bach and his predecessors, we'll listen to their music and discover the musical charms they wrote knowing that some listeners would solve the puzzle and for some, it would just add to their listening pleasures. Fans of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel and others, will get a “behind-the-scenes” look into the fascinating musical genius of over 20 composers from the 16th century to the 21st century. Join us as we go “behind the curtain” and discover the musical magicians' secrets! Steve Coldiron has been teaching BULLI courses for many years, totaling over 20 courses to date. He served as the associate minister of music at First Baptist Church in Gainesville for over 12 years with responsibilities for the church's orchestra and handbell programs. He recently retired from full-time church music after 42 years of ministry. Coldiron is the music director and conductor of the Gainesville String Orchestra and owns Four Walls Music, where he provides handbell, piano and orchestra music to churches and individuals. He has graduate degrees in both music theory and church music.
