About this event
Three IN-PERSON Sessions September 15, 22, 29 This course explores the complex economic relationship between the United States and China. Course participants will examine areas of conflict between the two countries and key strategies employed in what some describe as an "economic war," including the direct limitations on the flow of goods, services, and investments. We will address the issue of escalating tariffs, such as those initially impacting steel and aluminum, as well as the impact of less visible non-tariff barriers like regulatory hurdles and visa restrictions. We will also analyze the increasing use of investment restrictions and export controls, particularly those concerning sensitive technologies and infrastructure. The role of financial and monetary measures, including currency manipulation allegations and the development of alternative financial systems, will be discussed. Alex Zheng is from China, with a strong interest in sharing aspects of Chinese language, culture, and calligraphy with others. He also enjoys sharing information on Chinese economy, policies, trade and commerce.
