Six In-Person Sessions September 15, 22, 29, October 6, 13, 20 The Glimpses of Muslim History series is a set of snapshots of events in Muslim Civilization at critical points in the history of Islam. The course will cover events and periods that have had a lasting impact on Muslim civilization and its evolution. The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta offers a variety of ways to learn about Islam and Muslims and is excited to present this course. S. Rashid Naim is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Middle East Studies and Political Science at Georgia State University. Dr. Naim earned an undergraduate degree in history with honors from Aligarh Muslim University in India, master’s degrees in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India and from Australian National University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Naim has taught and held research positions at the Centre for Islamic Studies at Oxford University in the UK, the University of California Santa Cruz, and Union College in upstate New York. Dr. Naim’s areas of research and specialization are international relations, religion and politics, Middle East and South Asian politics, and nuclear proliferation.
