Description
The Pageant of the Masters is a 90-minute theatrical performance where famous works of art are brought to life onstage through live reenactments, transforming classical and contemporary pieces into living masterpieces. A live narrator guides the audience through the story of each piece, complete with music by a full orchestra. The 2025 show, “Gold Coast: Treasures of California”, will reveal the treasures of California’s art and history on an unforgettable road trip that showcases masterpieces from the Golden State’s most revered museums and monuments. See masterpieces from world-class museums like the Getty, LACMA, Laguna Art Museum, de Young Museum, Timken Museum of Art, and more, plus iconic monuments from some of the state’s most famous cities. Highlights include Edgar Degas’ “Little Dancer, Aged Fourteen” from the Norton Simon Museum, Millard Sheets’ “Pleasures Along the Beach” from the Hilbert Museum at Chapman University, Claude Monet’s “In the Woods at Giverny” from the LACMA, and Diego Rivera’s striking mural, “Allegory of California,” in San Francisco. Food is available for purchase at/near the festival, and patrons are welcome to bring in their own food and drink.
